Background: Formerly an independent kingdom, Madagascar became a French colony in 1896, but regained its independence in 1960. It is an island nation off the coast of Southern Africa.
In 1990, there were approximately 15 Assembly of God churches. Since then they have grown to 400 churches. In 2006 and 2007, they plan to plant an additional 500 churches.
